Star Gazing
For those from the Northern Hemisphere who want to see the Southern Cross, you can find it on a clear night fairly close to the southern horizon. Oneroa, the small island opposite Sokala, is roughly due east, so if you wade out into the lagoon a few metres and look to the right between the next small island, Koromiri, and the mainland, youre facing due south. Look for the two brightest stars in the constellation Centaurus, as they point towards the neighbouring four stars of the Southern Cross. Visitors from bigger city´s might be astonished how much stars are visible. |
